This role prioritizes teacher supervision, coaching, and professional development while ensuring a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment. The coordinator supports the implementation of effective instructional practices, promotes social-emotional development, and guides staff in managing classroom behaviors. Additionally, the role includes providing support for behavior strategies and collaborating with specialists to address the needs of children requiring additional behavioral or ABA-related supports, using developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership:
  • Oversee daily operations of Pre-K and Head Start classrooms
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing, Head Start, and quality standards
  • Support implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum
Staff Supervision & Training:
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support teaching staff
  • Provide ongoing coaching in classroom management and instructional practices
  • Lead professional development and training initiatives
  • Build teacher capacity in social-emotional development and behavior support
Classroom & Behavior Support:
  • Support teachers in managing typical and challenging preschool behaviors
  • Guide implementation of developmentally appropriate behavior strategies
  • Collaborate with specialists on students with higher behavioral or ABA needs
  • Promote positive classroom environments and social-emotional learning (SEL)
Behavioral & Mental Health Oversight:
  • Lead SEL strategies
  • Develop and/or oversee behavior intervention plans
  • Support classrooms with challenging behaviors
  • Ensure trauma-informed practices
Family & Community Engagement:
  • Partner with families to support child development
  • Assist with connecting families to resources when needed
  • Participate in IEP/IFSP and support meetings as appropriate
Compliance & Collaboration:
  • Ensure adherence to licensing, Head Start, and program requirements
  • Collaborate with behavioral specialists, therapists, and community providers
  • Monitor program quality and child outcomes Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in early childhood programs
  • Experience supervising staff or leading classrooms
  • Strong knowledge of child development and classroom management Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Early Childhood Teaching License
  • Director/Administrator credential
  • Experience supporting children with behavioral or developmental needs Preferred Experience & Training
  • Experience with Head Start or publicly funded preschool programs
  • Training in social-emotional learning (SEL)
  • Knowledge of PBIS or similar frameworks
  • Exposure to ABA strategies or collaboration with behavioral specialists
  • Trauma-informed practices (preferred but not required) Key Competencies
