Sheldon Early Learning Center Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the operations of the Sheldon Early Learning Center to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children of district employees. Ensure compliance with all childcare licensing requirements, Texas Rising Star standards, district policies, and early childhood best practices while supporting high-quality instruction and customer service for district staff families.Qualifications:
Education / Certification Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, or related field required Master's degree preferred Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred Director Credential or qualifications meeting Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing standards required CPR/First Aid certification required Special Knowledge / Skills Knowledge of general office procedures and administrative practices Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive program and financial information Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace Ability to work with financial tracking spreadsheets and data systems Effective written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of federal grant compliance requirements (preferred) Ability to coordinate meetings, training, and events Customer service mindset with strong interpersonal skillsExperience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education or childcare administration Experience supervising staff and managing operations preferred Experience with Texas Rising Star and childcare licensing compliance preferred Experience managing budgets and enrollment preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Program Leadership Oversee daily operations of the Early Learning Center serving infants through preschool-aged children Ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional practices Maintain a positive, child-centered learning environment focused on early literacy, math, social-emotional development, and school readiness Monitor classroom environments and instructional quality to ensure high standards of care and learning Compliance and Safety Ensure compliance with all Texas Child Care Licensing regulations and district policies Maintain Texas Rising Star standards and support continuous program improvement Develop and implement health, safety, and emergency procedures Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure proper staff-to-child ratios are maintained Staff Supervision Supervise, evaluate, and support Early Learning Center staff Coordinate hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and professional development for employees Foster a collaborative and professional culture focused on student success and customer service Ensure staff receive required annual training and certifications Family and Community Relations Build positive relationships with district employees and families Communicate effectively regarding student progress, behavior, enrollment, and program expectations Address parent concerns in a timely and professional manner Promote family engagement activities and parent education opportunities Operational Management Manage enrollment, attendance, tuition collection processes, and student records Prepare and maintain required reports, licensing documentation, and compliance records Monitor inventory, supplies, and facility needs Assist with budget planning and fiscal management District Support Collaborate with district departments and campus leadership to support district initiatives Maintain confidentiality of student and employee information Support the mission and goals of Sheldon ISD Supervisory Responsibilities Early Learning Center teachers Teacher assistants Childcare aides Support staff assigned to the center Working Conditions Mental Demands Maintain emotional control under stress Work with frequent interruptions Manage multiple priorities and deadlines Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of children and classroom materials Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor activities Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds Works a 226 Day Calendar Salary is commensurate with experience Minimum Salary $58,826 Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work. Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through May 19, 2026. After this date, applications will continue to be accepted in the event a suitable candidate is not identified.
