Job Description
Job Summary:
The Daycare Director will oversee all aspects of daily operations for Ramp Early Academy, ensuring compliance with all state regulations, managing staff, and creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children. The Director will serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and church leadership, providing leadership in curriculum development, financial management, and staff development. They will also ensure the daycare adheres to the mission and values of Ramp Church International. Our vision is for students to use higher-order thinking and develop the skills necessary to research, design, produce, and communicate solutions to real-world problems, benefiting their future and society.Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the daycare, including opening and closing procedures, staffing schedules, and facility management. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local licensing and regulatory requirements, including health and safety regulations. Oversee enrollment, admissions, and waiting list processes.Staff Management:
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all daycare staff, including Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants. Create staffing schedules to ensure appropriate child-to-staff ratios are maintained at all times. Provide professional development opportunities and ensure all staff certifications are up to date (CPR, First Aid, etc.).Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with Lead Teachers to implement age-appropriate curriculum for each class that aligns with the center's goals for early childhood education. Monitor classroom environments to ensure that the curriculum is being followed and that children's developmental needs are being met.Financial Management:
Manage the daycare's budget, track income and expenses, and ensure financial sustainability. Develop a system for tuition collection and fee payment, including subsidies from the Department of Social Services and other programs. Collaborate with church leadership on long-term financial planning and strategic initiatives.Parent and Community Engagement:
Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development, classroom events, and any concerns. Maintain an open-door policy for parent inquiries and engagement. Build relationships with the local community and potential partners to support enrollment and program growth.Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure that all staff members have passed background checks and have the necessary certifications. Maintain accurate records on children's attendance, progress, and any incident reports. Submit any required documentation or reports to state licensing authorities and church leadership.Health & Safety:
Develop and implement health and safety protocols, including emergency preparedness plans, illness policies, and safe sleep guidelines. Ensure the daycare facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained, addressing any safety concerns immediately. Oversee food service management in compliance with USDA food program guidelines.Strategic Planning & Growth:
Collaborate with church leadership to align the daycare's mission with Ramp Church International's goals for community service and financial sustainability. Create and execute long-term plans for expanding services, enhancing curriculum, and increasing enrollment.Qualifications:
Required:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a childcare or educational setting. OR A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in early childhood education or childcare, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role . Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in an early learning environment. Thorough understanding of Virginia state regulations for childcare. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).Preferred:
Experience in financial management, budgeting, and program development for childcare centers. Proven experience in fostering positive relationships with parents, staff, and community partners.Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with integrity. Proficiency in childcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.Job Type:
