Position Summary:
The School Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and success of the school. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality early childhood education while maintaining excellence in staff development, family relationships, enrollment growth, licensing compliance, and financial performance. The Director creates a positive culture for children, families, and team members while upholding the Primrose mission of building a brighter future for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development:
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain high-performing teachers and leadership staff. Foster a positive, professional, and supportive school culture. Conduct regular staff evaluations, coaching conversations, and professional development. Lead by example and maintain high standards for professionalism and accountability.
School Operations:
Oversee daily school operations to ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Maintain compliance with Virginia licensing regulations and Primrose standards. Ensure classrooms operate effectively with proper staffing ratios and curriculum implementation. Manage facility operations, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness.
Enrollment & Family Engagement:
Build strong relationships with current and prospective families. Conduct school tours and support enrollment growth initiatives. Maintain high levels of parent satisfaction and communication. Partner with the leadership team to execute marketing and community outreach efforts.
Educational Excellence:
Support implementation of the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum. Ensure classroom quality, child development standards, and school readiness goals are met. Monitor classroom environments and provide instructional leadership to teaching staff. Promote a culture focused on child safety, emotional development, and academic excellence.
Financial & Administrative Management:
Manage budgets, payroll, staffing plans, and operational expenses. Monitor enrollment trends and support school profitability goals. Maintain accurate records, licensing documentation, and reporting requirements. Collaborate with ownership on strategic planning and school growth initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool setting. Strong knowledge of Virginia childcare licensing regulations. Proven success in staff leadership, enrollment management, and operational oversight. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Passion for early childhood education and building strong relationships with families and staff.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with curriculum leadership and coaching teachers. Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Financial and operational management experience. Positive, energetic, and solutions-oriented leadership style.

Schedule:
