Job Description

Summary:
The Director of Early Childhood and Special Education provides provides leadership and direction for the school division's early childhood and special education program. Position formulates and interprets policies and procedures; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations; administers the budget and supervises departmental personnel. Qualifications:
Possess a Virginia Postgraduate Professional license with an endorsement in educational administration. Doctoral degree preferred. Minimum of five years of successful teaching and administrative experience at the school level. The position requires outstanding personal and professional characteristics; dynamic and proven leadership; ability to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community; superior writing and speaking skills; knowledge of learning theory, program planning; curriculum development and management of instructional programs; knowledge of testing and the analysis of test scores; and knowledge of principles and concepts for continuous quality improvement in education.
Location:
Winchester Public Schools is comprised of one high school, one middle school, one intermediate school, and four elementary schools including a Pre-K program, and one alternative education program serving over 4,000 students, supported by approximately 725 full time employees. Winchester is situated in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, 65 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Its location, rich history, and diverse economic base make it an attractive community in which to live.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience. Range is $120,510 - $185,583; salary includes payment for Master's Degree and a Doctorate degree is paid in the amount of $8,460.
