Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and organized Childcare Director to lead our center and ensure the highest standards of care, education, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of early childhood development, and the ability to manage day-to-day operations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the childcare center Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) licensing and safety regulations Hire, train, and supervise teaching and administrative staff Implement educational programs and curricula Maintain strong relationships with families and staff Manage budgets, enrollment, and facility maintenance Ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all children
Qualifications:
Must meet Virginia state requirements for a Childcare Center Director (e.g., CDA, Associate's or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or related field) Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood education and 1 year in a supervisory role Knowledge of Virginia licensing regulations and quality standards (e.g., VQB5, subsidy program participation) Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Experience with curriculum planning and staff development Familiarity with Procare or similar childcare management software
