Job Description

First Class Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher Position Summary The First Class Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher to provide a high-quality early learning experience for children enrolled in Alabama's First Class Pre-K program. The Auxiliary Teacher helps create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children can learn, grow, and develop the skills necessary for future success. This position plays an essential role in supporting classroom instruction, building positive relationships with children and families, maintaining a well-organized learning environment, and ensuring compliance with Alabama First Class Pre-K standards. Key Responsibilities Support Teaching and Learning Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily learning activities. Support children during whole-group, small-group, and individual learning experiences. Encourage children's curiosity, creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills. Help prepare classroom materials and learning centers to support instructional goals. Promote positive social-emotional development through nurturing interactions and appropriate behavior guidance. Foster High-Quality Teacher-Child Interactions Build warm, responsive relationships with children that support emotional security and engagement. Contribute to a classroom environment that reflects the CLASS domains of Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support. Model positive communication and respectful interactions with children, families, and colleagues. Assessment and Observation Assist with ongoing observations and documentation of children's development. Support the Lead Teacher in collecting information and evidence for Teaching Strategies GOLD assessments. Help monitor children's progress and communicate observations to the Lead Teacher. Classroom Management and Supervision Maintain active supervision of children at all times. Assist with classroom routines, transitions, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and special activities. Ensure classrooms, playgrounds, and learning materials remain clean, safe, and organized. Follow all health, safety, licensing, and First Class Pre-K requirements. Family and Team Collaboration Develop positive relationships with families and serve as a welcoming presence in the classroom. Support family engagement activities and school events. Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher, administrators, specialists, and support staff. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, coaching, and training opportunities. Program Mission and Culture Support the mission and values of the Learning Center. Help create an inclusive environment that welcomes children and families of all backgrounds. Incorporate values such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and community into daily interactions with children. Qualifications Required Minimum of 9 hours of Early Childhood Education College Coursework; or a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential through Council of Professional Recognition; or an Early Childhood Education Associate Degree; or Associate Degree Child Develpment Experience working with preschool-aged children. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to meet all Alabama First Class Pre-K and licensing requirements. Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Experience in an Alabama First Class Pre-K classroom. Familiarity with Teaching Strategies

Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and actively engage with young children. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
