JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for infants, toddlers and preschool-age children in accordance with the policies and philosophies if the Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center and for creating community with children and families.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
Associate's degree or higher in early childhood or related field. CDA Credential or two-year Associates Degree in non-related field and some experience in an early childhood classroom setting. High School Education with significant experience in an early childhood setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NECESSARY
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate educational practice for early childhood. Knowledge of the developmental stages of young children. Knowledge of classroom management and teaching techniques.
INTERPERSONAL, CUSTOMER SERVICES AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS UTILIZED
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children, their families and staff. Must relate well to children. Interact in a positive manner with other staff members. This position calls for an enthusiastic, creative individual, who is well organized, a self-starter, someone with excellent people skills that can motivate and enrich the daily experiences of the children, parents, and staff. Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the LJCC and the Early Childhood Department's philosophy and goals.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT UTILIZED
Duplicating machines. Media such as CD players, digital camera, iPad, printer, computer, e- mail, DVD and Power Point etc.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift and carry infants, toddlers, or preschool age child up to 50 lbs. Able to sit on floor and participate in all children's activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION PRESCHOOL TEACHER
Duties and responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Providing the children with a safe, loving and nurturing environment. 2. Interacting with children and encouraging their involvement in activities. 3. Meeting the children's needs in all areas - physical, emotional, social and intellectual. 4. Assisting in the development of weekly lesson plans with the Lead Teacher and helping prepare the materials needed for the activities. 5. Assisting in the planning and executing of daily activities in science, math and multicultural experiences. 6. Assisting in the planning and executing of daily art, music, and language development and motor development. 7. Carrying out appropriate and positive discipline as established by the Lead Teacher. 8. Helping to build a supportive team. 9. Maintaining a room arrangement that is safe, inviting, interesting and stimulating. 10. Being sensitive and responsive to parents and acting as a resource person for them. 11. Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs. 12. Attending Open House and required number of PTO meetings. 13. Keeping current with developments in the profession. 14. Assisting in record keeping. 15. Helping maintain common areas of the preschool (kitchen, playgrounds, supply closets, etc.) Plus any additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the ECLC Director. This individual will function as a member of the JCC's staff, subject to all privileges and responsibilities as outlined in the JCC's Personnel Code. eoe
