PELHAM CITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE
Auxiliary Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or equivalent and academic competency in basic skills. 2. Must possess a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution. 3. Adequate strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including lifting, stooping, and bending. 4. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships 5. Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To understand and assist in upholding school rules, policies, and procedures. 2. Regular and punctual attendance 3. To participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school as directed by the principal. 4. To respect the confidentiality of information pertaining to students and staff. 5. To assist in fostering positive student attitudes toward citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism. 6. All auxiliary teachers are expected to work an 8 hour workday to include 6.5 hours of instruction and 1.5 hour of planning in coordination with the lead teacher. 7. Work with individuals and groups of students as assigned. 8. Assist the teacher in student testing activities as assigned. 9. Keep charts and records of students' performances and accomplishments to document learning. 10. Assist the teacher in preparing materials necessary for a positive learning environment. 11. Perform clerical tasks including inventory, filing, and typing, operate audiovisual equipment, and care for equipment and materials. 12. Assist teacher with basic physical needs of students. 13. Take all the necessary precautions to provide for the safety and welfare of students. 14. Attend and participate in individual, school, and system professional development activities. 15. Auxiliary teachers must attend a minimum of 10 hours of OSR-sponsored training each year plus 10 additional hours training offered by local or regional programs for a total of 20 hours. 16. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with school staff, parents, and community. 17. Promote good public relations for school system with the general public. Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related business. 18. Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies. 19. Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
EVALUATION
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on personnel evaluation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. The length of the work year and the hours of employment shall be as established by the system.
