In this role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment tailored specifically for infants and toddlers. Your passion for childhood development and expertise in classroom management will help foster a safe space where young children can explore, learn, and grow. As a leader in the classroom, you will collaborate with families and staff to support each child's unique needs, ensuring they receive high-quality care and early education that lays a strong foundation for future success. Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote early literacy, math skills, social-emotional growth, and physical development in infants and toddlers. Create a warm, welcoming classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and positive behavior management. Monitor and document each child's developmental progress through observations, assessments, and standardized testing when appropriate. Collaborate with families to share insights about their child's growth and provide guidance on early childhood education practices at home. Manage daily classroom routines including feeding, diapering, nap schedules, and transitions to ensure a safe and comfortable setting. Incorporate Montessori principles and other educational philosophies to enhance learning experiences tailored to individual needs. Lead lesson planning sessions that integrate curriculum development strategies focused on early intervention, special education needs, and literacy education. Supervise assistant teachers and support staff to maintain high standards of childcare quality and classroom management. Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, health standards, and safety protocols related to childcare environments. Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, behavior management techniques, preschool experience, and teaching physical education. Qualifications Proven experience working with children in an early childhood or preschool setting; prior classroom experience as a lead teacher is preferred. Strong knowledge of childhood development stages specific to infants and toddlers. Familiarity with curriculum development methods including Montessori approaches and literacy education strategies. Experience with classroom management techniques that foster positive behavior in young children. Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and community partners. Knowledge of special education practices, early intervention programs, and standardized testing procedures is advantageous. Certification or training in early childhood education or child welfare is required; additional certifications in Health & Safety toddler care are a plus. Demonstrated ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate math skills, physical activities, and social-emotional learning.
