In this role, you will help create a nurturing, play-based classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore the world around them. You will work closely with a teaching team to implement emergent curriculum, build strong relationships with families, and support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children. This is a wonderful opportunity for an educator who is passionate about child-centered learning, values community, and enjoys working in a collaborative school environment. Responsibilities Maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times through regular headcounts and classroom awareness. Prepare and maintain a clean, organized, beautiful, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Collaborate with co-teachers to plan and implement engaging, play-based curriculum that supports children's curiosity and development. Lead daily classroom activities including circle time, art, storytelling, dramatic play, gross motor activities, movement, walks, and field trips. Observe, document, and assess children's learning, development, behavior, and social-emotional growth. Build respectful and supportive relationships with children, families, and colleagues through regular communication and conferences. Participate in family intake meetings, orientations, and conferences to support strong school-family partnerships. Foster an inclusive classroom community that honors diversity, cultural backgrounds, and differing abilities. Participate in weekly team meetings, staff meetings, trainings, school events, and ongoing professional development opportunities. Assist with classroom opening and closing duties including snack preparation, cleaning, sanitizing, organizing materials, and setting up/resting nap cots as needed. Support children's personal care needs, including diaper changing when necessary. Qualifications Minimum of 12 semester units (or equivalent) in Early Childhood Education required. At least 1 year of experience working in an early childhood classroom setting preferred. Strong understanding of play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and project-based approaches to early childhood education. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to creating inclusive learning environments. Comfortable using email and scheduling systems and able to communicate in a timely and professional manner. Ability to work at a child's level for extended periods and lift/carry up to 30 pounds. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is dependent on education, ECE units, and level of experience. The hourly pay range is $20-$26 per hour .
