Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and caring Preschool Co-Teacher to support a Reggio Emilia-inspired classroom and Lead Teacher in our unique STEM+Art-based early childhood education program. In this role, you will assist in various classroom activities and foster a nurturing environment that promotes the holistic growth of young children. In collaboration with the Lead Teacher, you will help to facilitate an intentional, play-based learning environment thoughtfully set up with subject-matter provocations—inviting children to explore big ideas, literacy, STEM concepts, and a variety of artistic expressions through hands-on investigation. You'll step into the role of co-learner and researcher alongside the children, nurturing curiosity, creativity, and collaborative projects while thoughtfully assisting with documentation of their learning journeys. You will help to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive space where children can truly thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. This position offers the exciting opportunity to assist a lead teacher within a truly distinctive pedagogy, shaping foundational learning experiences while partnering closely with families and colleagues to uphold the highest standards of early childhood education. Responsibilities Support children during play, investigations, routines, and transitions Assist Lead Teacher with implementing and managing hands-on literacy, STEM and art activities using open-ended materials Follow guidance from Lead Teacher and participate in collaborative classroom practices Support social/emotional skills and classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain a structured, respectful environment Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times Help prepare and maintain an organized, clean and welcoming classroom environment and materials Observe children and share insights with the Lead Teacher/teaching team Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about children's daily experiences Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families Adhere to all health, safety, and licensing requirements Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Meets state licensing early childhood education unit requirements for assistant teachers 2+ years experience with young children play-based, inquiry-driven education Curiosity, patience, and willingness to learn and collaborate Reliable, positive, and supportive team member Familiarity, experience and/or openness for all things art, science, math, engineering, literacy Familiarity and/or experience/study with Reggio Emilia philosophy Knowledge of early childhood development principles and classroom management techniques Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy education strategiesJob Types:
