This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused position designed for someone who believes children learn best through play, exploration, and following their own ideas. You'll facilitate a summer full of child-led adventures — from garden projects and mud kitchens to nature art and loose-parts building — in a setting that prizes joy, discovery, and connection. What You'll Do Facilitate daily outdoor, play-based activities that are responsive to children's interests and emergent ideas Support and extend child-led projects, allowing children to set the pace, direction, and goals Observe and document children's play to inform future activity planning and share learning with families Create and maintain inviting, well-organized outdoor learning environments Supervise children with attentiveness and care, maintaining health and safety in all settings Collaborate with fellow educators to plan and reflect on the camp experience Communicate warmly and regularly with families Follow all applicable licensing, mandated reporting, and organizational policies Qualifications Minimum 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units from an accredited college or university (required) Experience working with children ages 3-6 in a licensed early childhood setting Genuine commitment to play-based, child-led, and project-based learning philosophies Comfort working primarily outdoors in warm weather conditions Strong observational skills and ability to follow children's lead CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Current TB clearance and DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance (required before first day) Positive, collaborative, and reflective work ethic Preferred Qualifications Background in CLASS, Conscious Discipline Familiarity with emergent curriculum, Reggio Emilia, or nature-based early childhood approaches What We Offer A supportive, mission-driven team that values educator autonomy and creativity A program environment grounded in respect for children as capable, competent learners Competitive seasonal pay Experience with outdoor or nature-based programming Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
