Alternative Qualification Options:
Candidates who do not possess the preferred permit may qualify if they meet all the requirements under Option 1 or Option 2 below, which are the minimum qualifications to apply for the CTC Child Development Teacher Permit. Option 1: Education and Experience- 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development, which must include courses in the three core areas: Curriculum (CUR) Child, Family, and Community (CFC) Child Growth and Development (CGD)
- 16 semester units in General Education, including one course in each of the following areas: English Social Science Math or Science Humanities
- 175 days of verifiable experience working in a childcare or development program within the last four years. (Experience must consist of at least three hours per day.) Option 2: Degree Pathway
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development.
- 3 semester or 4 quarter units of supervised field experience.
