Nursery Teacher St. Luke's Presbyterian Church - 5.0 Rolling Hills Estates, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $30 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Diaper changing First Aid Certification Performing background checks Teaching First aid and CPR Full Job Description Overview of the position: The Nursery Teacher shall provide attentive and loving care of all babies and toddlers, 0-4 years of age, and children ages 5 and older; prepare and lead activities that gently introduce concepts of God's love per the curriculum provided and in accordance with the ministry of St. Luke's. This includes working cooperatively with the Christian Education Committee, the Director of Children and Families, and all nursery volunteers. The Nursery Teacher assumes leadership responsibilities to ensure volunteers are assisting in accordance with curriculum goals and all child safety guidelines, including the proper administering of first aid and positive behavioral correction/re-direction.
Responsibilities:
Implement church-provide curriculum: Foster a loving, positive learning environment and play-centric experience Prepare lessons and gather/prepare/organize all materials needed for each week's lessons, art activities and games (as needed) Incorporate curriculum concepts into free-play and exploratory learning Provide different activities each Sunday through which the children can rotate Read books Sing songs/play music Communicate in advance with the Director of Children and Families any materials needed for the lesson plans. Provide childcare in the nursery for children of choir members and staff: Beginning at 8:30am before Worship Service on Sunday morning Maintain a safe and tidy nursery room. Regularly wipe down/clean all surfaces, toys and equipment with the disinfectant solution provided. Regularly inspect all toys and equipment for safety hazards (broken or missing pieces, non-functioning elements, etc.). Take every measure to remove all safety hazards from the nursery and communicate needs for replacements/repairs to the Director of Children and Families. Tidy the nursery room after each use, making sure all toys, books, games and equipment are returned to their rightful place before turning out the lights and closing up. Communicate with the Director of Children and Families any cleaning and/or first aid supplies that are low and need replacing, as well as any larger cleaning or maintenance task that need immediate attention (i.e. burnt-out bulbs, large spill on carpet, leaking plumbing, soiled bedding, etc.). Ensure that each child in attendance has a completed Emergency Contact/Medical Information form in the provided binder and that the binder remains in the nursery at all times. Be familiar with the medical information provided for each child. Give the parents of each new child in attendance a form to fill out and return; then, add newly completed forms to the records. Alert the Director of Children and Families of each new child in attendance. Attend all mandatory safety training and re/certification workshops, as instructed. Observe and support the emotional and physical wellbeing of each child; and report any concerns to the Director of Children and Families Report to the Director of Children and Families weekly and more frequently as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Previous experience working with babies and children. Teaching experience preferred. Diaper-changing willingness and know-how First Aid/CPR certification or the willingness to get certified within 2 months of employment. Must pass a complete background check/reference check as well as a boundary training/child safety online course.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
