CCA staff are called to love our Lord Jesus Christ and service Him, the students, and families through the ministry of education, using their gifts to support the mission of the school. The expectation of each teacher and staff member is to meet each child where they are spiritually, academically, and emotionally to teach and equip that child to live according to the scriptures. The Director has primary responsibility for general supervision and management of the Preschool. In addition to this, the director may also be responsible to teach a class of approximately 7-10 children, ages 2-5, with a maximum of 10 children per day. While the Director oversees the daily operations of the preschool, the CCA Principal oversees the entirety of the CCA campus including the elementary school and the preschool. Qualifications Qualifications for a director include but are not limited to:
- Must be seeking to grow and walk with the Lord daily
- Profess Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
- Believe that the Bible is God's Word and is authoritative on all matters of which it speaks.
- Model Christian beliefs, thoughts and actions toward others including a commitment to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct.
- Place Christ and His Word at the center of all knowledge and learning
- Possess spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to "train up a child in the way he should go".
- Being a team player.
- Possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as love for children.
- Being a sensitive, responsible, and mature individual able to relate well to children and adults.
- Holding a certificate in Early Childhood Education (ECE) of 12 units or more in child development from an accredited college as well as the required 3 units of Child development Administration class(es), plus 4 years of teaching experience
OR :
Having an AA degree in ECE orCD and 3 units of administration, plus 2 years of teaching experience,OR:
Having a BA degree in ECE or CD and 3 units of administration, plus 1 years of teaching experience,OR:
Possessing a Site Supervisoror Director Permit.- Completing the required Preventive Health Care Class
- Having completed the mandated child abuse reporter training
- Having a current CPR/First Aid card
- Having proof of up to date immunizations
- Having a valid driver's license or state ID card, and social security card Responsibilities Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Upholding the vision of the preschool with pride and ensuring that the preschool meets the relevant standards set by the state.
- Attending selected CCA Board Meetings
- Maintain the preschool Facebook and Instagram pages
- Advertise for open positions
- Keep preschool staff records as far as ongoing certification such as CPR/First Aid
- Support CCA fundraising efforts
- Attending CCA staff meetings when possible
- Assist with preschool tours when available
- Determining the needs of the preschool, and protecting the health and safety of children
- When in a dual role as director and teacher, the director must perform all duties as listed in the job description for a teacher.
- Planning, supervising and implementing the overall program for the classroom in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school and state of California
- Overseeing and assisting the teachers in designing a program for their class to meet the needs of the individual child; making sure each child is treated with dignity and respect. Emphasis must be placed on teaching biblical values in all areas of the preschool program.
- Facilitating plans to develop the growth of the preschool
- Helping to create policies and managing preschool staff
- Keeping staff informed regarding important school decisions (i.e. policy and procedure changes that affect them, payroll information,
- Managing student records in a safe and secure place
- Keeping all necessary forms up to date
- Following up with student immunization requirements
- Coordinating recruitment and hiring to fill preschool staff vacancies and make hiring recommendations to the principal and if needed to the CCA board
- Keeping staff records up to date and complete
- Calendaring the preschool year and communicating this to the parents
- Sending out a weekly or monthly newsletter to the parents making them aware of important dates and days of closure, etc.
- Planning, organizing, coordinating, and promoting professional development, training, and staff meetings
- Developing curriculum
- Purchasing necessary supplies (snack items, janitorial supplies, etc.) through the office for the effective running of the preschool program.
- Communicating with the CCA office when there are needs to be addressed that cannot be addressed by the director
- Keeping Coastal Christian Academy front office apprised of all communication with preschool parents and staff that could have a direct impact on the operation of CCA schools as a whole
- Facilitating parent conferences, Open House, Parent Workshops, and Meet and Greet, special performances, etc.
- Overseeing and following up on teachers housekeeping responsibilities, i.e., disinfecting furniture, cubbies being cleaned regularly, sweeping/vacuuming/mopping of floors, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash daily, etc.
- Making sure that the facility outside of the classrooms are clean including hallway floors being vacuumed, sidewalks are swept and kept free of debris and trash, etc.
- Immediately taking care of any dangerous or hazardous situations seen or reported to the director, and reporting these to the front office.
