Preschool Teacher (Reggio Emilia-Inspired Program) Glenwood Children's Center Scotts Valley, CA $25.00 per hour | Full-Time About Glenwood Children's Center Glenwood Children's Center is a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool serving children ages 2-5 in Scotts Valley, California. We believe children are capable, competent, and full of potential. Our program values relationships, inquiry, creativity, and meaningful connections with nature and the surrounding community. We are seeking passionate educators who view teaching as a collaborative and reflective practice and who are excited to help build a new school community from the ground up. Position Summary The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Teachers work collaboratively with colleagues to support children's social-emotional growth, facilitate play and inquiry, document learning, and cultivate strong partnerships with families. Responsibilities Foster a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom community. Build responsive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Support and extend children's play, investigations, and emerging interests. Collaborate with teaching teams to develop and implement emergent curriculum. Observe, document, and reflect on children's learning and development. Maintain an engaging classroom environment that reflects children's thinking and interests. Supervise children indoors, outdoors, and during community experiences. Communicate professionally and positively with families through Brightwheel and in person. Maintain compliance with all California Community Care Licensing regulations and program policies. Participate in weekly staff meetings, professional development, and reflective practice.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 12 ECE units required by California Community Care Licensing. Experience working with young children in a licensed early childhood setting. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment). Ability to pass all required background clearances. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
High school diploma or equivalent Experience with Reggio Emilia, emergent curriculum, project-based learning, or nature-based education. Knowledge of child development and positive guidance practices. Experience with classroom documentation and family engagement. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to frequently bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors. Ability to supervise children outdoors in varying weather conditions.
