PDIS Level Reports To:
Educational Services Manager Position Summary At TLC Learning Center, the Substitute Teacher provides classroom coverage for children ages two through five in a preschool setting. This on-call role supports the continuity of care and learning when full-time teachers are absent due to illness, vacation, or training . The Substitute Teacher helps maintain a nurturing and engaging classroom environment, following established lesson plans and routines while supporting children's developmental, social, and emotional growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide classroom coverage and instruction according to established lesson plans. Implement daily routines including meals, rest, diapering and outdoor play. Create a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and learning. Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Communicate effectively with staff, teachers, and families as needed. Document attendance and classroom observations as required. Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and center policies. Adapt quickly to varying age groups, classroom settings, and teaching styles. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting. Knowledge of child development and early learning best practices. Proficiency in computer use and technology is required , including the ability to effectively use software and digital tools for communication, documentation, and classroom operations. Ability to obtain or maintain a Colorado Professional Early Childhood Credential Ability to pass FBI background check and fingerprinting within 30 days of employment. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field. Experience leading classrooms or implementing curriculum. Bilingual or American Sign Language (ASL) Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move children and classroom materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit on the floor, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and move freely throughout the classroom and playground. Ability to respond appropriately to the physical and emotional needs of children. Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with children and adults. Ability to sanitize and maintain classroom surfaces and materials in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
