Job Description

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School has provided a quality Christian pre-school program for over 70 years. The program serves children who turn 3 or 4, respectively, by September 1st, and are ready to learn. Preschool teachers will be responsible for educating and developing young children ages 3-4, helping them form the foundations of learning as well as implementing Christian Curriculum. Your goal will be to coordinate creative curriculum play time and group learning activity periods. As a preschool teacher, you should have patience and readiness to take part in a daily routine filled with energy as well as tenderness. You should engage children using games and activities that are both fun and educational. The ultimate goal is to allow children to explore their environment and develop the skills they will use to succeed in future stages of their lives.
Responsibilities:
Observe and interact with students in order to determine their level of development in areas such as physical, cognitive and social skills. Use principles of positive discipline to manage behavior and foster creativity and self-reliance. Interpret observations of children and suggest solutions to parents related to curriculum or the child's well-being. Plan activities that develop children's knowledge, skills, interests and values. Work with the child's family to maintain open communication regarding the child. Apply current research on child development.
