Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a Special Education PreK Teacher in New Britain, CT, with a contract running from ASAP through June 18, 2026. This role involves working 27.5 hours weekly, spread over 5 days at 5.5 hours per day, providing dedicated instruction to a caseload of approximately 12 early childhood students. Key responsibilities include delivering specialized educational instruction tailored to young learners with special needs, conducting Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings, and managing progress reports and goal writing to support each child's development. Strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach to working with families and educational teams are essential.
Qualifications:
Experience teaching PreK students within a public school setting is mandatory. Valid Connecticut certification in
Early Childhood Special Education:
either #112 or #113. Familiarity with individualized education programs and special education compliance standards. Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively contribute to educational assessments and planning. This position offers a structured schedule with flexibility for interviews given notice, making it suitable for educators seeking a focused early childhood special education role.
