Job Overview Join our vibrant team as an Afterschool Counselor, where your enthusiasm and dedication will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after school hours. In this role, you will facilitate educational activities, promote positive behavior, and support childhood development through dynamic programming. Duties Supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Plan and implement engaging activities that promote learning, creativity, and social skills Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement Assist with homework help, tutoring, and educational exercises tailored to each child's needs Collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff to support individual childhood development goals Maintain a clean, organized environment that encourages exploration and play Administer basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral concerns Requirements Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare is highly desirable Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Familiarity with special education needs and early childhood education principles is a plus Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a lively environment with enthusiasm and patience Background in sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting, or camp counseling can be beneficial for creating diverse activities This role is ideal for individuals passionate about childhood development who want to inspire confidence and curiosity in young learners.
