Job Description

Lead Teacher Job DescriptionPosition Title Lead Teacher Reports To Director / Assistant Director Position Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. The Lead Teacher plans and implements age-appropriate lesson plans, supervises classroom staff and children, maintains classroom management, and ensures compliance with all licensing and center policies and procedures. Duties & Responsibilities Plan and implement daily lesson plans and classroom activities Create a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards Complete daily reports, attendance records, and child assessments as required Communicate professionally and effectively with parents and guardians Supervise and guide assistant teachers and classroom aides Support children's emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and center information Monitor classroom supplies and notify administration of needed materials Assist with meals, diapering, potty training, and nap supervision as needed Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral situations Qualifications Must pass Level 2 Background Screening CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or willing to obtain DCF 45 Hours preferred but not mandatory Skills & Abilities Strong classroom management skills Ability to multitask and stay organized Patience, professionalism, and reliability Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children throughout the day Work Schedule Full-time and part-time positions available. Hours may vary based on classroom needs and center operations.
