Position Summary Jack & Jill Center's Early Education Program provides quality, year-round early childhood education focusing on enabling children to grow emotionally, physically, and socially in a safe, caring environment using age-appropriate methods for cognitive growth. The Center is open year-round, Monday through Friday, and serves children who are six weeks to five years old. The Infant Lead plays a critical role in supporting the growth and development of infants by providing responsive, nurturing care and a safe, engaging environment. They implement developmentally appropriate, individualized experiences based on each child's needs and routines, foster secure attachments, maintain health and safety standards, and observe and document developmental progress. The Infant Lead Teacher also partners closely with families to ensure continuity of care and support each child's overall well-being. Key Responsibilities Instructional Planning and Implementation Plan, align, developmentally appropriate, individualized experiences based on each infant's needs, interest, and developmental stage. Follow each child's daily routine (feeding, sleeping, diapering) in partnership with families. Use observation and documentation to support developmental progress and individualized care. Provide responsive caregiving, including talking, singing, holding, and engaging infants throughout the day. Support early development in motor, sensory, language, and social-emotional domains through play-based interactions. Curriculum Development and Activity Planning Implement a developmentally appropriate infant curriculum focused on sensory exploration and relationship-based learning. Create safe, engaging, and nurturing experiences that promote exploration (tummy time, grasping, visual tracking, etc.). Prepare and maintain age-appropriate materials that support infants' physical and cognitive development. Adapt activities based on individual developmental readiness, not group expectations. Learning Environment and Classroom Management Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment that meets DCF health and safety standards. Ensure strict adherence to DCF safe sleep practices: infants placed on backs; no loose bedding Follow proper sanitation procedures for diapering, feeding, and classroom materials. Provide consistent, responsive interactions to build trust and secure attachments. Organize the environment to allow safe movement and exploration. Communication and Collaboration with Stakeholders Maintain daily communication with families, including feeding, sleeping, diapering, and developmental updates. Build strong family partnerships to ensure continuity of care between home and school. Conduct references to discuss developmental milestones and individual progress. Collaborate with families to align on routines, transitions, and developmental goals. Student Development and Behavioral Guidance Support infants' social-emotional development through consistent, nurturing interactions. Respond promptly to infants' cues (crying, hunger, fatigue) to build secure attachments. Assist with daily care routines, including diapering, feeding (bottles/solids), and soothing. Encourage development of early self-regulation skills through predictable routines. Promote safe exploration and movement. Compliance, Professional Development, and Safety Attend required educational conferences and training, including mandated hours, certifications, and first aid/CPR as required by law or Jack & Jill Center. Keep records and submit reports as required by state regulations, Broward County Child Care Licensing, NAEYC, or Jack & Jill Center. Follow all DCF infant care regulations, including safe sleep, diapering procedures, and staff-to-child ratios. Maintain a safe and respectful environment, including fire and emergency drills per state/local regulations, and ensure the school property is well-maintained. Engage in planned professional development and continuous improvement for self and the school. The Infant Lead Teacher possesses the following minimum qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids, services or an interpreter. High School diploma or G.E.D. Certification of a National CDA and experience in group care of children less than six years of age. Associate or bachelor's degree or higher from an Accredited institution in Preschool Education (birth to age 4) or Early Childhood Education, preferred. 45 DCF childcare hours completed and CPR/First Aid for Infant through Adult. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., email, Microsoft). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. A valid driver's license and access to transportation. Proper documentation to work in the United States. Knowledge and understanding of early childhood education "Best Practices" in federal and/or state standards, and content-specific subject matter. Successfully complete and pass a Level II Clearinghouse Background Screening
