Job Description

Overview Join our Montessori early childhood community as a Substitute Toddler Teacher, where you will support young children in a calm, prepared environment that fosters independence, exploration, and early development. In this role, you will guide toddlers through purposeful activities, model grace and courtesy, and ensure continuity of care and learning while upholding Montessori principles. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a nurturing classroom while gaining valuable experience in a supportive setting. Responsibilities Guide children through developmentally appropriate Montessori activities that support early literacy, mathematical understanding, practical life skills, and social development. Closely follow the established Montessori scope and sequence and lesson presentations, maintaining fidelity to the prepared curriculum while thoughtfully adapting to meet individual developmental needs. Support normalized classroom behavior through grace and courtesy, redirection, and positive reinforcement in alignment with Montessori principles. Foster emotional well-being by maintaining a calm, respectful, and inclusive prepared environment where each child feels secure and valued. Collaborate with lead guides and staff to ensure consistency in Montessori practices and a smooth flow of the work cycle. Assist with daily routines such as snack, rest time, and outdoor exploration while upholding independence and safety. Communicate clearly and respectfully with children, families, and team members to support a cohesive and transparent Montessori community. Qualifications Prior experience working with young children in a Montessori, classroom, or childcare setting is highly preferred. Understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development, including respect for the child, independence, and the prepared environment. Strong communication skills to interact respectfully and effectively with children, families, and colleagues. Familiarity with positive guidance strategies aligned with Montessori principles, including grace and courtesy and redirection. Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with special needs or autism, is a plus. Ability to follow Montessori lesson presentations with fidelity while thoughtfully adapting to meet individual developmental needs and learning styles. Relevant certifications such as CPR/First Aid and DCF Credential are preferred; Montessori training or willingness to be trained is highly valued.
Pay:
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour
