$40,000•45,000 (based on experience and skill set) Job Summary Fig Tree Montessori seeks a Lower Elementary Guide who embodies both the depth of authentic Montessori practice and the responsibility of nurturing the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. The Guide is the dynamic link between the prepared environment and the child: preparing purposeful materials, presenting lessons with clarity and precision, observing deeply to guide each child's path, and cultivating a classroom rooted in independence, discipline, and meaning. At Fig Tree Montessori, this role extends beyond academics. The Guide integrates an Islamic worldview into the fabric of the classroom, fostering a deep sense of purpose, identity, and noble character (adab). This is a role for someone who sees education as transformation—of both the child and the self. Who Should Apply We are seeking candidates who: Hold a Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited) at the Elementary level Have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) Demonstrate a strong foundation in child development and educational theory Demonstrates a strong understanding of Islam, its practices, and underlying philosophies, with the ability to authentically reflect and integrate these within the classroom environment Are committed to authentic Montessori practice while remaining open to mentorship, growth, and refinement Are comfortable contributing to and integrating a faith-based (Islamic) school environment Possess warmth, patience, humility, emotional presence, and a grounded sense of authority Understand how to guide children without yelling, rewards, or manipulative behavior systems Are legally authorized to work in theUnited StatesKey ResponsibilitiesChildren & Environment:
Observation, Planning & Classroom Leadership Prepare and sustain a beautiful, orderly Montessori environment with purposeful, self-correcting materials Present precise, developmentally appropriate lessons to individuals and small groups, with thoughtful follow-ups Observe children closely and systematically; use observations to guide individualized learning trajectories Protect uninterrupted work cycles and maintain the integrity of the environment Know when to intervene and when to step back, allowing independence to develop naturally Guide behavior through calm, consistent authority—never through yelling, coercion, or reward systems Cultivate concentration, independence, responsibility, and intrinsic motivation Model and nurture grace, courtesy, and noble character (adab) in all interactions Integrate an Islamic worldview naturally into the environment, conversations, and curriculumReporting & Parent Relations:
Records, Assessment & Family Partnership Maintain accurate records of lessons, observations, and student progress Use observation and student work as the foundation for assessment and planning Document student growth through work samples and classroom records Communicate respectfully and proactively with families Lead parent conferences centered on the child's development and trajectory Partner with families to support the child holistically Support parent education and help families understand Montessori philosophy and classroom practicesTeam & School Community:
Leadership & Collaboration Lead and support classroom assistants and other adults in maintaining the Montessori environment Set clear expectations and ensure consistency in protecting the work cycle and classroom culture Collaborate with school leadership on curriculum development and student support Participate in school events, community initiatives, and program development Use planning time effectively for preparation, reflection, and documentation Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and a growth-oriented mindset Who You Are You are a calm, grounded, and authoritative presence—children naturally take your lead You guide with connection, not control You understand that discipline is developed internally and know how to support that process You are deeply observant and intentional in your work You are adaptable and open to mentorship and refinement of your practice You are comfortable integrating faith and meaning into the learning environment You see cultivating character as equally important as academic development You are actively engaged in your own personal and spiritual growthSchedule Monday-Thursday:
