First Aid Certification Full Job Description Summer Camp Group Leader & Aide Job Description Position Summary:
Summer Camp Group Leaders and Aides are responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 3 through 8. Staff ensure a safe, nurturing, and fun environment while supporting children's social, emotional, and physical development in accordance with all Pinellas County Licensing Regulations .
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement daily activities and lesson plans tailored to specific groups (ages 3-8) Supervise and actively engage with children during all camp activities, both indoors and outdoors Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment at all times Provide consistent guidance and support to promote appropriate behavior and social skills Assist with daily routines, including snack/lunch, restroom breaks, and transitions Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure smooth operation of all camp groups Maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding any concerns, incidents, or injuries
Field Trip Responsibilities:
Provide active supervision of children during weekly field trips Ensure all safety procedures are followed while off-site Conduct frequent headcounts and maintain required child-to-staff ratios Assist children with transportation, transitions, and participation in activities
Pinellas County Licensing Requirements:
All staff must comply with Pinellas County Child Care Licensing Regulations , including but not limited to: 40 clock hour training preferred. Be able to pass a Level 2 background screening and fingerprinting Valid CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Adherence to required staff-to-child ratios at all times Completion of Health and Safety training , including emergency preparedness Compliance with all record-keeping, incident reporting, and supervision standards
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children (ages 3-8) preferred Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities Strong communication and teamwork skills Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude Ability to maintain a safe and structured environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed throughout the day
