Full Job Description Schedule Options Part-Time:
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Aftercare Student Lead responsibilities only Starting hours are flexible, and we can adjust based on preference. Pay Range Compensation follows our standard teacher pay scale based on credentials: $15/hr — No credentials $16/hr — Completed DCF 45 hours $17/hr — CDA $18/hr — VPK credential What You'll Do (Student-Focused Role) Afternoon Care & Engagement Supervise and interact with children during aftercare activities Support a peaceful environment during classroom mergers and transitions Lead simple activities such as story time, art, building, or outdoor play Maintain Montessori order and calm while allowing for child-led exploration Build positive relationships with children and families Support Classroom Transitions Help guide children when classrooms merge (typically 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM) Keep routines consistent during pickups Assist with toileting, diapering, and snack time as needed Communicate kindly and confidently with parents during end-of-day conversations Collaborate With the Closing Procedure Lead Work alongside the closing teacher who handles cleaning, resetting, and lock-up Ensure children remain engaged and supervised while closing procedures are completed Communicate any end-of-day notes to morning teachers You Might Be a Great Fit If You… Are nurturing, patient, and love connecting with children Stay calm during transitions or busy pickup times Enjoy being part of a team and supporting a smooth daily flow Prefer a predictable routine with clear expectations Find joy in helping children end their day feeling safe and cared for Are dependable and take pride in showing up consistently Qualifications Experience working with young children (preschool, daycare, nannying, camps, etc.) Reliability and strong communication skills DCF 45 hours completed or willingness to complete within 90 days CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) Montessori experience is welcome but not required Must pass a Level II background screening Why You'll Love Working Here Calm, supportive, family-like school culture Low ratios during aftercare A peaceful environment compared to traditional childcare centers Clearly structured routines and support from closing team Paid Time Off after 90 days Opportunity to make a meaningful impact during the most relaxed part of the day
