Full Job Description SUMMARY:
This is a professional child development position with expertise in early childhood education and child development responsible for facilitating developmental playgroups that foster social/emotional, cognitive/language and physical domains of development. Effective parent engagement strategies are used to help parents gain the knowledge and skills required to raise thriving and healthy children. This position reports to the Program Director. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Plan and conduct child development playgroups with young children that promote positive adult/child interaction and child development education to caregivers. This includes assisting with developing/revising playgroup curriculum, facilitating playgroups, planning and organizing resource materials for groups. Plan and conduct prenatal services that are offered in group format. This includes organizing, and purchasing resource materials. Facilitate completion of Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and other child development screenings at specified intervals. Share results with parents/caregivers and facilitate community referrals as needed. Manage the participant registration process (e.g. EventBrite, Remind, CATS, & Personal Spreadsheets) to maintain accuracy and timeliness. Complete accurate and timely data collection to complete reporting requirements and support program's compliance to contract, grant, accreditation and agency requirements. Plan & Participate in outreach and engagement services in support of children and families and program/organization goals and objective. Extensive outreach, recruitment and engagement of families into Layla's House including active and warm greetings to facility visitors. Manage the social media websites (Facebook, Instagram) to include (taking photos, posting photos, flyers, program updates); also to include the creation and distribution of program materials. Plan & lead special events in support of program goals. Supports the agency's performance and quality improvement processes. Attend staff meetings, on-going in-service training and reflective supervision as required. Participate on appropriate agency, department and community planning teams. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in child development, social work, early childhood education, or related field. Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience working with families and children. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Professional, self-directed, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful) Strong organizational and record keeping skills Proficiency in of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint and web-browsing. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis; infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 20 lbs. Some travel around Hillsborough County required. Must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Champions for Children serves. Must have reliable vehicle, active auto insurance, and a valid Florida driver's license. Must successfully complete a Florida level 2 criminal background clearance, motor vehicle records check and drug screening. Champions for Children, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
