Job Description

OVERVIEW
The Preschool Teacher works in the Therapeutic Language for Children (TLC) program and is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children ages 2 to 5 years old. The teacher will plan and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, language (communication and literacy), and physical development. The Preschool Teacher will work with parents, caregivers, and other educators such as the speech language pathologist, Therapeutic Language for Children Program Director, and Clinical Director to ensure that children's needs are met. Work setting is generally a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor activities on site. The program serves preschoolers aged 2-5 with special needs, ranging from mild to severe. Very positive and loving working environment. This is a year round position. Key Responsibilities 1. Create a Positive Learning Environment Establish a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment for children. Organize classroom materials and resources to encourage exploration, creativity, and learning. 2. Plan and Implement Curriculum Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and educational activities that align with early childhood education standards. Focus on fostering children's social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development through guided and structured play and learning. 3. Child Development, Assessment and Classroom Management Observe and assess each child's development and progress, providing individualized support as needed. Establish and maintain classroom rules and routines that promote a positive and respectful learning environment. Use effective strategies for managing behavior and ensuring children's safety and well-being. Assist children with toileting and hygiene routine, including diaper changes and maintaining cleanliness. Perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks of equipment after each class. 4. Parent and Staff Collaboration Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child's development, behavior, and needs. Work with staff to support monthly and weekly learning themes and curriculum. Participate in professional development opportunities when available. Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by the needs of the organization.
