Job Description

Position Summary The Children's House is a 3-Star Quality Rated child care facility associated with St. Joseph's/Candler. The Children's House offers programs ranging from infant care to Pre-Kindergarten. Our mission is to promote the healthy growth and development of children and to strengthen and support the families and community. The focus of our program is to promote developmentally appropriate learning through respect, diversity, self-esteem and equality in order to prepare our learners for success. We accomplish this vision through cooperation among highly trained co-workers, our children's families, and the community, in a safe, nurturing environment which provides individualized learning and developmentally appropriate practices. We believe that young children learn best through creative, hands-on learning experiences in an environment that fosters curiosity. The Office Assistant provides support to the Director and Teachers helping the children learn to think independently, to problem solve and to use their words to communicate their feelings. Education Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
  • Required Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • Required Technical College Diploma (TCD) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • Required Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred
  • Preferred Experience 3 Years experience of early care and education with young children (birth to five years-old)
  • Required 1 Year of experience managing classroom behavior
  • Required 1 Year writing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Required License & Certification CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Required Core Job Functions Provide direct care and active supervision of children at all times while maintaining a safe, healthy environment.
Ensure proper response to injuries, emergencies, administering medication as required, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state licensing regulations. Complete developmental evaluations within required timeframes, conduct ongoing observations, and use assessment date to monitor progress and inform care and education. Communicate results and progress with parents, other teachers, and the Director. Design and implement developmentally appropriate, individualized lesson plans and daily schedules that support physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Develop consistent, professional communication with families through daily updates, conferences, and reports. Address concerns, provide guidance, and foster partnerships with parents/guardians. Ensure adherence to all licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and Quality-Rated requirements. Maintain required training, certifications, and ongoing professional development. Maintain an organized, well-equipped classroom environment, oversee materials and equipment, and collaborate effectively with other teachers and Directors. Assist with scheduling coverage and contribute to center-wide initiatives.
