Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement outreach programs to engage and inform the community / parents / professionals about early learning and school readiness.

Has the ability to speak in a variety of settings, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, and school based staff, students, parents, and community.

Knowledge of state GELDS standards with an in-depth knowledge of content in field of certification.

Knowledge of techniques for integrating curriculum, GCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.

Ability to understand the teaching/learning process.

Ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing programming, outreach and support for parents and children ages birth through five to improve school readiness skills. Responsible for planning, providing and modeling developmentally appropriate instruction to children ages birth through five and their parents/caregivers. Demonstrate command of the developmentally appropriate practices for teaching children birth to age 5 and their parents/caregivers.

Develop and prioritize short and long-term instructional objectives based on the curriculum. Identify specific prerequisite skills and/or knowledge necessary for students to learn the content.

Plan instruction as needed to promote student mastery of prerequisite skills and knowledge.

Analyze student work and assessments to determine instructional needs.

Prepare written lesson plans to support instructional objectives for all students.

Plan appropriate assessment of student learning.

Monitor students\' progress in learning through a variety of techniques.

Adjust instructional plans based on formative assessment results. Provide initial focus for the lesson. Communicate specific learning objectives to students and parents/caregivers.

Link lesson content to students\' prior knowledge, background experience, and/or real-world application of content.

Capture student and parent/caregiver attention through active involvement. Utilize scientifically researched effective instructional strategies and methods of providing information for students to acquire the learning. Assess students\' learning and provide specific feedback to students and parents.

Utilize a variety of nonverbal/visual representations of content and skills. Organize learning environment to maximize student time on task. Organize and arrange environment to facilitate learning.

Ensure smooth transitions from one activity to another. Maintain behavior that is conducive to learning. Define and communicate behavior expectations to students and parents/caregivers.

Monitor behavior and provide appropriate feedback to students.

Manage inappropriate behavior effectively.

Establish mutual respect between teacher, parent/caregiver, and students.

Convey warmth, friendliness, and enthusiasm. Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities. Participate in early learning and school readiness professional learning opportunities.

Utilize professional learning resources to support personal development.

Apply new knowledge and skills acquired in planning and delivery of student instruction.

Partner and collaborate with other coaches and specialists supporting kindergarten and early learning. Serve as a liaison between the school district and community for early learning and school readiness. Provide outreach to the community to promote awareness of the importance of early learning.

Share information about and support the use of high quality early learning resources and programs.

The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
