Job Description

Overview Job description: The Head Teacher at ACPC will work as a team with the Administrative Team and assistant teachers to implement the early learning program. The team will assist in carrying out the child care mission and values by providing high-quality child care services to children and parents.
Programming:
  • Plan and execute classroom goals and activities.
  • Provide appropriate positive guidance to children according to ACPC guidelines.
  • Collaborate to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children at ACPC.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classrooms and common storage areas.
  • Provide superior supervision of children always.
  • Supervise and eat with children at mealtimes. Follow CACFP food regulations.
  • Attend staff in-service meetings.
  • Maintain records as assigned.
  • Report any suspicions of child abuse to the HOT LINE and to the Admin Team.
  • Supervise children while napping, at rest times, and other periods.
  • Take initiative to be responsible for activities.
  • Maintain classroom budget.
Parent and Child Relations:
  • Securely maintain and store child paperwork in classroom and on ACPC networks.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with families related to services, policies and procedural changes.
  • Report any concerns or problems to the ACPC Admin Team.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of diverse families.
  • Address family concerns as needed.
  • Provide a high level of quality service to families.
  • Be engaged with children during play. Professionalism
  • Attending meetings as assigned.
  • Communicate openly to all entities as needed.
  • Project a positive center image in the community.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
  • High-School Diploma or equivalent
  • Secondary degree or certificate preferred and encouraged.
  • Certification in infant, child and adult CPR, first aid, Universal Precautions, Mandatory Reporter Training and Essentials Training. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Class D license.
  • Basic computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and physical examination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently located inside an office building. While outdoors, the employee is occasionally exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous or dangerous situations.
  • May provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering and feeding.
  • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as a part of the childcare environment.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00
Pay:
$16.64 - $21.00 per hour
