POSITION SUMMARY
An Early Childhood Education Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment for young. They help children develop social, emotional, physical and academic skills through structured lessons, play and daily routines.
ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and lead age-appropriate educational lesson plans and activities using the Illinois Early Learning Standards on assigned teaching days. Supervise children during classroom activities, lessons and outdoor play. Encourage positive behavior, social skills and emotional development. Observe and monitor children's progress and behavior through mid-year and end-of-year assessments. Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss children's progress, behavior, developmental milestones and classroom performance. Prepare and submit content for the monthly newsletter to the Preschool Director. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians. Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and the community to support student development and strengthen family engagement. Work collaboratively as an active team member with other preschool staff. Maintain a safe, clean and organized classroom environment. Promote the preschool program and Park District in a positive and professional manner. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to class start time to prepare the classroom, greet children, and ensure classes begin on time. Remain at least 30 minutes after class ends to clean and reset the classroom for the next day. Attend required events, including classroom set-up before the school year, Open House/Student Orientation, Holiday Programs, and Graduation. Serve as a substitute teacher when needed. Maintain inventory of classroom supplies and materials and notify the Preschool Director when additional supplies are needed. Attend monthly staff meetings conducted by the Preschool Director. Follow all school policies, state licensing regulations, and Park District policies and procedures. Report all accidents, incidents, safety concerns, maintenance issues and parent complaints to the Preschool Director in a timely manner. Comply with all PDRMA safety policies and procedures and complete all required accident and incident reports. Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director and/or Superintendent of Recreation
SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan Attend professional educational and safety trainings Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor

Regularly required to sit and talk or hear Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; and over 20 pounds with assistance Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Employee performs most activities indoors. Indoor environmental conditions will include lighting and temperature Employee may perform some activities outside in various weather conditions

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field CPR and First Aid certification (often preferred or required) Previous childcare or classroom experience Strong communication, patience and classroom management skills
