Kreating Young Minds Academy™ (KYMA) is a licensed early childhood education center proudly serving families on Chicago's South Side since November 2025 . As our enrollment continues to grow, we are seeking a caring, dependable, and flexible Early Childhood Education Floater to join our expanding team. Position Summary The Early Childhood Education Floater provides classroom support throughout the center by assisting teachers, supervising children, and maintaining a clean, safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes each child's growth and development. This position works with multiple age groups and classrooms as needed to maintain required staff-to-child ratios, provide coverage during staff breaks and absences, and ensure the smooth daily operation of the center. The ideal candidate is flexible, energetic, enjoys working with children of different ages, and can quickly build positive relationships with children, families, and staff while supporting KYMA's commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education. Essential Responsibilities Maintain a clean, safe, nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment in every classroom assigned. Provide classroom coverage in infant (upon DCFS approval), toddler, preschool, and school-age classrooms as assigned. Support Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants with daily classroom routines, educational activities, and classroom management. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, transitions, rest time, and field trips while ensuring their safety and well-being. Maintain active engagement with children through meaningful interactions, play, and age-appropriate learning experiences. Assist with implementing activities that support children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development. Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and educational resources. Follow all KYMA policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and Illinois DCFS licensing standards. Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, coworkers, and visitors. Report any health, safety, behavioral, or maintenance concerns promptly to the Lead Teacher or administration. Perform daily cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, and classroom organization duties to maintain a healthy learning environment. Demonstrate flexibility by adjusting classroom assignments based on the center's operational needs while maintaining a positive, professional attitude. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Ability to successfully pass all Illinois DCFS background checks and employment requirements. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Willingness to work with children of various ages throughout the center. Preferred Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education. Experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
