7/1/2026 Do you love preschoolers' big ideas, endless questions and excitement for learning? Little Scouts Preschool is seeking a passionate, experienced Pre-K Teacher to join our collaborative team. We believe children learn best through play, exploration and meaningful relationships. Our teachers create engaging environments where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn.
Position Responsibilities:
Create and implement engaging, play-based lesson plans aligned with Illinois Early Learning Standards Foster children's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment Observe, assess, and document children's progress Collaborate with co-teachers, families, and administration Ensure compliance with DCFS licensing standards and program policies Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings We're Looking For a teacher with: Passion for early childhood education and play-based learning Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills Ability to create engaging learning experiences that support all areas of development Excellent communication and collaboration skills Positive, flexible, and team-oriented mindset Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment Ability to build strong partnerships with families
Professional Expectations:
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times Follow all Little Scouts Preschool, DCFS, and Lake Forest High School policies and procedures Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and program events Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, colleagues, and administrators Maintain accurate classroom documentation and child records Contribute positively to a collaborative team culture Complete a minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, variable rotating schedule, a combination of Open Shift (6:30 AM-3:00 PM) and Closing Shift (8:45AM-5:15 PM)
Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree with at least 6 semester hours of Early Childhood Education coursework, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential DCFS Teacher Qualified Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare center Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Strong communication and teamwork skills Must be at least 19 years of age Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field Experience teaching in a Preschool or Pre-K classroom
Working Conditions:
This is an active role that includes lifting (up to 50 lbs occasionally), sitting on the floor, and frequent movement throughout the day while caring for children.
