Assistant Child Care Director

Assistant Child Care Director Little Scholars McHenry, IL Little Scholars is seeking a motivated, organized, and supportive Assistant Director to help lead our center. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and ready to grow into a leadership position while supporting daily operations and staff.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Director works closely with the Center Director to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain compliance, support staff, and provide a high-quality experience for children and families. Qualifications (Required): Must meet qualifications set by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for an Assistant Director Minimum of 1 years of experience in early childhood education Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred Knowledge of DCFS licensing standards and classroom ratios Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

Support daily center operations and assist in maintaining DCFS compliance Help manage staffing, scheduling, and classroom coverage Provide guidance and support to teaching staff Step into classrooms as needed to maintain ratios and support teachers Assist with tours, enrollment, and family communication Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment Support staff training, onboarding, and performance management Ensure licensing standards and center policies are followed consistently
