The position open is a 12 month position. Teacher is expected to complete weekly lesson plans following the provided format, collaborate with coworkers to provide a positive learning environment for the students. General Description of the Job Ultimately responsible for a group of preschoolers . Performs activities that ensure the health, safety, and progress of each preschool child in the group. Reports to the Director. Specifics Duties of the Job Provides for children's physical needs: attends to potty accidents and ensures the cleanliness of each child in the group. Prepares lesson plans for the children on a daily basis. Everything will be prepared prior to the children arriving in the classroom. Preparation will not be done during class time, recess or when it takes away from supervision of the children. All materials will be prepared, copied or etc. prior to class starting. Completes a Daily Report for preschoolers . (Daily Reports outlines preschoolers care and needs.) All eyes are on children at all times. Supervision is a must no children should be left unattended at any times under any circumstances. Teacher will utilize the curriculum that has been purchased on a daily basis. Teacher will utilize any directions given by the Director or Board without fail. Meets the emotional needs of each child: talks with, smiles at, and shows affection to each child. Satisfies the developmental needs of each child: reads to, plays with, and provides learning opportunities for each child and the group as a whole. Plans and executes special activities daily according to posted written lesson plan and classroom schedules. Respects the independence of each child and respects the child's need to do things on their own. Greets each parent/guardian and child daily, regardless of time of day (afternoon or evening). Gives children undivided attention, watching carefully for safety hazards. Cleans classroom at the end of each day (according to checklist) even if it means you have to stay past your designated time scheduled. Maintains Daily Folders for each child. Teacher will promote learning by sending home homework sheets weekly. Communicates with parent/guardian concerning child's progress. Uses redirection and, when necessary, brief separation as discipline (time out), which is no more than one minute per year of life . Enforces Little Lambs Christian Daycare and Preschool's discipline policy as outlined and maintains Behavior Chart according to policy. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and experience working with preschoolers . Knowledge of safety issues concerning preschoolers . Knowledge of Little Lambs Christian Daycare and Preschool's discipline policy. Skills in patience and compassion. Skills in time management Ensures that each and every child feels welcomed, loved and encouraged in learning. Skills in remaining calm under pressure. Verbal skills with children and parents. Ability to be flexible with children. Ability to capture 'nurturing moments'. Ability to get along with co-workers and be a team member. Ability to unconditionally love and understand that no child should be left to cry or otherwise treated unfairly. Overall, ability to manage and control classroom environment and the classroom's everyday function.
