Purpose The Toddler Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 2-3 years. Through responsive caregiving, purposeful play experiences, and strong partnerships with families, the Lead Teacher fosters each child's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and independence. The Lead Teacher also provides leadership within the classroom by guiding assistant teachers, implementing curriculum, and ensuring compliance with all program standards and regulations. Your Contributions and Impact Create a welcoming, safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment for toddlers. Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families through daily communication and collaboration. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the unique needs and interests of young children. Foster children's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development through play-based learning and responsive interactions. Observe, assess, and document children's growth and developmental progress. Develop and maintain lesson plans that align with Indiana Early Learning Standards and program requirements. Provide nurturing care and support children's growing independence with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, rest time, and self-help skills. Utilize positive guidance techniques to promote self-regulation, confidence, and healthy relationships. Maintain accurate classroom records, attendance, child assessments, and required program documentation. Create and distribute family communications, including newsletters and classroom updates. Mentor, support, and collaborate with assistant teachers to ensure a positive and productive classroom environment. Participate in parent-teacher conferences and ongoing family engagement opportunities. Engage in professional development and training opportunities to continually enhance teaching practices. Ensure compliance with all licensing, accreditation, Paths to Quality, and program requirements. What We're Looking For Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, School-Age Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Human Development and Family Studies, or a related field; OR CDA Credential with at least one year of relevant experience. Previous experience working with toddlers in an early childhood setting. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to guide and collaborate with classroom team members. Creativity, flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Commitment to providing high-quality care and education for young children. Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-quality early childhood program.
