GENERAL FUNCTION
This position is responsible for meeting the developmental needs of children birth through five years of age in a group setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, providing a safe and secure environment, providing documentation of positive developmental outcomes for students, as well as maintaining positive relations and communications with families, partnership agencies and program staff. Directing a classrooms assistants, aides, and volunteers to meet program standards will make the CDC successful. Job Requirement
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age 18 years of age and high school diploma or equivalent Six months' experience in a licensed child care facility Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Signs and Symptoms etc. certification or acquire within 30 days of hire Have record of negative TB Screen and Physical within the last 6 months Meet all Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Regulations 12 hours of observations (5 of 2½ hours each) in a licensed facility with children of the same age as enrolled in the facility that the teacher will be working in. Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
PREFERRED NAEYC QUALIFICATIONS
Training and education in a professional program, BA, AA, Child Development Associate credential (CDA), in education or 12+ college credits in ECE, Program Directors Approval (PDA) for up to 24 children One year experience in a licensed child care facility
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs Must be able to bend and squat repetitively Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time Must be able to perform light physical activity Maintain a positive attitude and make the environment an encouraging experience for all Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times
