DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
Pre-School Teacher
Responsible To:
Principal Preschool Coordinator
Basic Function:
Facilitate the potential development of the children in the areas of social/emotional, cognitive/intellectual, motor, language, and self-help
Performance Responsibilities:
Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Provide experiences which address all areas of child development. Plan and manage the classroom schedule to ensure a balance of active and quiet experiences. Arrange centers at a time to maximize the effectiveness of the collaborative team approach. Maintain a clean, safe and inviting environment in which children can develop optimally. Monitor child progress through a variety of data recording methods. Consult and collaborate as a team member and provides leadership for instructional assistants. Maintain compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, and follows established program, policies, and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of child's records. Assist in developing and implementing IEPs for children with disabilities. Implement parent activities that include classroom participation, parent-0teacher conferences and a minimum of two home visits per year. Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality. Maintain professional competence through professional staff development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. Adhere to the professional code of ethics as established by Education Professional Standards Board. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, program coordinator, or superintendent.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Child Development KY Regulations/Statutes related to Preschool/Early Childhood Education ECERS-3
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Kentucky certification for Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE)
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for certified personnel.
