Director of Childcare (TigerCub Village)PRIMARY JOB GOAL
To provide school care to students that is effective in helping to meet the students' developmental, educational and social needs, so that the program's maximum positive impact on the education of the children can be realized; leadership of activities with required student to staff ratios; maintain cleanliness of used areas in the program; to be a positive role model; perform highly responsible child-care duties and assist with documentation to support the program for the successful implementation of the Bear Care Program.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Previous experience in a child-care setting preferred; strong reading and writing skills; experience in one of the enrichment activities offered in the program (drama, dance, music, art, cheer, technology, violin or other instruments,Tae Kwon Do, and/or gymnastics); possess organizational skills; basic computer skills with data entry ; use of copy machine; possess leadership qualities; good oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain a pleasant attitude and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and others while working effectively under minimum supervision; infant/child CPR training; Basic First- Aid training; Child abuse and neglect training; ability to work confidentially with discretion; ability to work or lead in an organized setting with diverse ages and learning styles.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with a group of students with a required ratio of 1:12 or 1:14 Will assure that guidelines from the state cabinet for Human Resources are reviewed and abided by, as well as school policies Helps to check in/out students - requires parent or specified designee to show I.D. and sign register •Keeps track of attendance with documentation Will obtain (15) hours of child development training yearly Will obtain CDA, which is 120 clock hours if Director requests or may attend as desired if not requested by Director. Childcare workers who have their CDA or 3 years experience may be required to sub for TL or Director if one of the two is absent. The ability to participate in team-planning and implementation of a variety of activities designed to enhance a child's developmental, educational, and social needs, but not limited to: arts and crafts, academic content, organized games, study time/academic support, group topical discussions, snack, recreational activities and free play. Collect childcare payments, write receipts, light record keeping with ledger Supervision of activities and following schedules The ability to supervise students of elementary age The ability to encourage positive behavior and self-esteem in students through the use of natural and logical consequences while maintaining a positive classroom environment. Discipline, respect and love; treat others the way you want to be treated If applicable works with the principal or director on discipline referrals Will be responsible for following the direction of the Program Director, Director of Special Education and School Principal Use of proper CPR and first aid certification skills as trained if needed Maintaining cleanliness of areas used by Bear Care Program Helping to prepare snacks Administer and document medication according to state regulations (training required) Flexibility to accept various duties assigned by the Director as needed Will implement knowledge gained from 6 hour orientation classPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
