Aug 31, 2026 Job Description St. Augustine School is seeking a faithful, joyful, and mission-driven Pre-K 3 Teacher to join our faculty this school year. Located in downtown Andover, St. Augustine School offers a high-quality Catholic education for over 400 students from Nursery through Grade 8. We provide a categorically different kind of education—one that forms both the mind and the heart. Rooted in our mission to form the next generation of saints and scholars, we are guided by three core values: truth (veritas), unity (unitas), and love (caritas). At the center of this mission is our belief that education without formation is education without a soul. We are looking for a dynamic, nurturing educator who is eager to share in our Christ-centered mission, has a deep understanding of early childhood development and instruction, and seeks to serve not just as an instructor, but as a witness to the faith. The ideal candidate will bring a love of learning, a joyful and patient presence, and a collaborative spirit to our close-knit faculty of Catholic educators. The Pre-K 3 teacher works in close partnership with a grade-level colleague, a classroom Instructional Assistant, and collaborates regularly with our faculty, student support staff, and administration. Faculty at St. Augustine School benefit from meaningful opportunities for adult faith formation, ongoing professional development, and mentoring as part of a community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and joyful discipleship. Primary Responsibilities Serve as the primary instructor for all areas of the Pre-K 3 curriculum, including early literacy and phonological awareness using Heggerty and Fundations, handwriting, math, religion, and social-emotional development. Lead daily religion instruction using the SALT curriculum alongside Bible stories, Scripture memory verses, saint stories, devotionals, and prayer practices that follow the rhythm of the liturgical year. Structure daily learning through rich read-alouds and children's literature, purposeful learning centers, fine motor work, dramatic play, and outdoor time that cultivates wonder and stewardship. Foster a safe, joyful, and structured learning environment that nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and soul—through predictable rhythms, calm transitions, and a classroom marked by beauty, order, and reverence. Support students' spiritual growth through daily prayer, participation in the Mass and other liturgical celebrations, and a classroom culture that fosters in children a growing relationship with Christ. Use developmentally appropriate assessment practices to track student growth and communicate progress effectively with families. Communicate effectively and regularly with parents and guardians, using the FACTS Learning Management System. Collaborate closely with the grade-level partner, student support staff, and administration to ensure each child is known, loved, and challenged. Contribute positively to the broader school culture and community. Participate actively in professional development, faculty faith formation, and ongoing formation as a Catholic educator. The Ideal Candidate Will:
Be a practicing Catholic who embraces and lives the faith, understanding that as a teacher in a Catholic school, they are called not only to instruct but to witness. Have a wholehearted commitment to the mission of Catholic education and to the formation of the whole child in truth, unity, and love. Hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Have prior early childhood classroom experience; Catholic school or lead teacher experience a plus. Demonstrate strong knowledge of early childhood development and instructional best practices for 3 and 4 year olds. Be experienced with or willing to learn Heggerty, Fundations, and SALT, and embrace a Catholic approach to early childhood education. Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a particular warmth toward young children and their families. Possess a deep love for children and a commitment to helping them grow in faith, academics, and character from their very first years of school. Show a desire for continual growth and excellence in the art and vocation of teaching. Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive salary scale based on experience and education. Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, 401k match, and more, offered through the Archdiocese of Boston.
