Job Description

Overview Inkwell Montessori is seeking a full-time Lead Guide to lead our Primary classroom and serve as a central figure in the life of the school. This is a founding role. The Lead Guide will have strong classroom autonomy and real ownership over the environment, with the ability to shape the daily life of the classroom in alignment with Montessori principles. This role is designed for someone who is not only looking to lead a classroom, but who is interested in growing with the school. There is a clear pathway for the Lead Guide to grow into a Head of School role within approximately three years, with increased leadership responsibility and compensation. Spanish-English bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Duties Lead a mixed-age Montessori Primary classroom (ages 2.9-6) with fidelity to Montessori principle Prepare and maintain a thoughtful, orderly, and engaging classroom environment Guide children through uninterrupted work cycles that support independence, concentration, and mastery Support children's social, emotional, and academic development Collaborate with the founder on classroom setup, materials, and program implementation Communicate regularly and thoughtfully with families Support licensing and documentation needed for state approval Contribute to building a strong, respectful, and consistent school culture Requirements Montessori Primary credential (AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited program) required Minimum of 3 years experience leading a Montessori Primary (Children's House) classroom required Must meet, or be eligible to meet, Massachusetts early childhood program leadership requirements (we will support the process if needed) Strong understanding of authentic Montessori practice Calm, grounded classroom presence and strong observation skills Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with a small team Spanish-English bilingual ability strongly preferred
