About Our Early Childhood Education Programs - What is Head Start? Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide early childhood education services to infants, toddlers, and preschool children for school, while also helping parents achieve financial, housing and health stability goals that benefit their families and the entire community. St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) of Baltimore operates six fully credentialed Head Start sites and four licensed Early Head Start sites in Baltimore City. Classes are full-day and include free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. Acceptance is based on meeting eligibility requirements and available space in classes. Head Start services are associated with positive, long-term outcomes for low-income children including higher cognitive test scores, higher rates of high school and college graduation, higher employment rates, higher earnings, and better overall health outcomes. PRIMARY DUTIES
Work with other team members to implement the curriculum for all children based on their developmental abilities, including preparing materials, supplies and activities. In coordination with other team members, participant in developmental screenings and ongoing assessment of enrolled children. Maintain attendance records and meal count records for each child. Share responsibility for meal service for the children with other team members. Work with team members to maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for all daily program activities. On a shared schedule, accompany the van driver during pick up and drop off of enrolled children to/from their shelter placements while providing needed support and monitoring of the children during transportation. Participant in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other career development and professional activities, as appropriate. Become credentialed and maintain credentialing through the MSDE Child Care Credential Program. Maintain certification in Early Childhood Education through MSDE. Work to maintain the program's Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) accreditation. SECONDARY DUTIES
Work with other team members to develop relationship with the parents of enrolled children. Maintain good communications with parent, provide support and guidance, as needed and document contact. Support volunteers as part of the classroom team and offer hospitality to visitors, Work to support the collaboration between The Ark and other community partners in order to benefits the children and families enrolled in The Ark program. Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul. Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary, attends meetings etc. Creates an atmosphere of care and respect for staff, volunteers and clients. Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Job Type:
