Job Description

About Beth El Preschool (BEPS): BEPS is a warm, welcoming early childhood program, located near downtown Bethesda. We are a play based preschool that provides a nurturing, supportive environment for young children. BEPS is a parent-cooperative preschool. Our parents are involved in their children's preschool experience, volunteering regularly in the classrooms during the morning program. Some of our preschoolers stay for a full day and we are looking to hire an Assistant Teacher to work with our afternoon team for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond.
Position Description:
We are seeking an engaging, responsible and caring Assistant Teacher to join our staff. The position will assist in our extended afternoon program, working with children ages 2-5. Hours are 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children in a school, camp or childcare setting. Coursework in early childhood or elementary education is a plus, as is a degree in a related field and/or the 90-hour course in Early Childhood Education. ​The ideal candidate will be confident working with young children; knowledgeable about early childhood development; able to take direction and work as part of a team; comfortable communicating appropriately with children and colleagues; and be enthusiastic about providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children. In order to successfully perform the essential duties of this position, candidates must be able to frequently bend, stoop, squat, crouch and move around quickly. Candidates must also be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.​ The starting pay rate for this position is $25 per hour.
