  • Full-time This job position is for a director of a home-based child daycare center, who would also serve as the provider and owner.
The director would ensure a safe, happy, stimulating and learning environment for children within a home-based daycare for 8-12 children. The hired director would be the provider/owner of their own daycare business in the large basement of the home. This is a great business opportunity for someone who wants to serve as a director of their own daycare business in an area where there is a high demand for childcare. Therefore, there is a potential to go beyond the salary limit stated for this opportunity. The basement of the home is already set up for the daycare with equipment and toys. There is also a large playground in the backyard with a play-set/swing-set, sandbox; etc. The hired director will need to have completed (or soon complete) the training listed below for Family/8-Children; Large Family/12-Children training can be done later. The following are some of the other responsibilities of the hired director/owner: Provide teaching and direct service within the classroom. Manage and coordinate curricula with staff that complies with state and federal requirements. Ensure that center facilities are safe for children and comply with state laws and regulations. Evaluate and purchase materials, equipment, and supplies. Manage and support teaching staff and promote their professional development. Interview, hire, and train new staff members, ensuring they meet all state policies and legal requirements. Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures. Communicate and meet with parents/ caregivers regarding their children and the center's policies. On-board new children. Attend required staff meetings, training or conferences.

The initial size limit will be 8 children then transition to a limit of 12 children after further county certification. Therefore, it's expected that the candidate for director have the following state/county qualifications/credentials: Family
  • 8 children limit Training/Requireents 1. First Aid/CPR (current and appropriate for each age group approved for care) 2. Emergency and Disaster Planning 3. Medication Administration 4. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 5. Basic Health & Safety 6. At least one of the following: a. 24 clock hours of approved training
  • 4 clock hours in each of the 6 core of knowledge competencies (OCC 101) b.
90 Clock hour course; c. Department of Defense Modules for Child Care Providers; d. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) e. Associate Degree that includes 15 semester hours of early childhood or elementary education coursework; f. Bachelor's or higher degree in early childhood education, elementary education or other discipline approved by the Office; or g. Other coursework approved by the Office and If planning to care for children under the age of 2 years: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) (taken within last 5 years) Supporting Breastfeeding Practices Large Family
  • 12 children limit (In addition to Family Childcare size requirements listed above ) Be at least 21 years old Have a high school diploma or equivalent Complete nine hours of training in communications with parents, staff, and the public Complete three semester hours of administrative procedures training Have a national child development credential or six semester hours or 90 actual hours of child development training
