Full Job Description Description:
Gretchen's House Child Care Centers are seeking a dedicated and flexible Childcare Substitute to join our team and support our early childhood education programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and looking to make a positive impact in a dynamic educational environment. As a Childcare Substitute, you will provide consistent, high-quality care and support to children in the absence of their regular caregivers, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor children in various childcare settings, including classrooms, play areas, and outdoor spaces Implement daily activities and routines in accordance with program guidelines and curriculum Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff regarding daily activities and any concerns Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment Follow all health and safety policies and procedures Adapt to different age groups and individual needs as required Assist with meal and snack times, including proper hygiene and dietary considerations Support children's social, emotional, and developmental growth through positive interactions
Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and routines Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in child development Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to childcare Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in CPR and First Aid are a plus Join our vibrant team committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for children. Requirements:
A Bachelors or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, but not necessary Personnel file must be complete and up to date Adheres to attendance and dress code policies as outlined in the Staff Handbook Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and parents Knowledge of children's physical, emotional and developmental patterns Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate guidance Evidence of emotional maturity and stability Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
