$39,836-$50,228 (commensurate with education, credentials, and experience)
Job Type:
Full-time, School year, 10 months About Our Program Lakeview School District is committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate early learning experiences. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated GSRP Lead Teacher to guide our scholars in building strong social-emotional, cognitive, and foundational skills to prepare them for kindergarten.
Core Responsibilities Instruction & Classroom Management Curriculum:
Utilize, plan, and implement a research-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the Michigan Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-Kindergarten.
Child Assessment:
Conduct ongoing observations, maintain anecdotal records, and complete required child assessments (e.g., Smart Teach/COR Advantage ) in a timely manner.
Screening:
Administer developmental screenings (e.g., ASQ-3 /
ASQ:
SE-2 ) to identify individual student needs.
Environment:
Maintain a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment conducive to active learning, both indoors, outdoors, and during field trips.
Supervision:
Ensure the active supervision and safety of children at all times.
Coaching:
Participate and adhere to early learning coaching, data meetings, and instructional feedback.
Family Engagement & Community Communication:
Maintain consistent, positive communication with parents/guardians through newsletters, messaging apps, and phone calls as dictated by the Director of Early Childhood Operations.
Home Visits:
Conduct the required two (2) annual home visits and two (2) parent-teacher conferences per student to build strong family-school partnerships.
Collaboration & Compliance Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and collaborate with the Associate Teacher and classroom teacher aides.
Compliance:
Maintain strict adherence to State of Michigan licensing regulations, GSRP grant requirements, district policies, and program performance standards.
Meetings:
Participate in regular staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and work collaboratively with Early Childhood Specialists to maintain high program quality (e.g., CLASS ratings). Maintain required MiRegistry Great Start to Quality PD compliance.
Required Qualifications & Credentials Education:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or (ZS) Endorsement. - OR - Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Life Education (with a specialization/minor/or AAS in Early Childhood).
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of successful experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom setting.
Background Check:
Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and physical/tuberculosis (TB) screening required by MiLeap and the school district.
Certifications:
Willingness/ability to obtain and maintain valid CPR and First Aid certifications as well as Mandated Reporter training and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
Professionalism:

Preferred Qualifications Experience with GSRP policies, grant guidelines, and The Creative Curriculum or High Scope Curriculum Bilingual or multilingual Proven track record of successful family engagement and community collaboration. Physical Demands & Working Environment Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, sit on the floor, lift up to 60 pounds, and accompany children outdoors in all allowable Michigan weather conditions.
