St. Regis Catholic School, Bloomfield Hills Position Summary St. Regis, a Catholic school committed to academic excellence and faith formation, seeks a nurturing, dedicated, and highly qualified Developmental Kindergarten Teacher. The Developmental Kindergarten program provides young learners with an additional year to build foundational academic, social-emotional, spiritual, and developmental skills following kindergarten grade level standards before entering traditional kindergarten. The teacher will create a safe, engaging, and faith-filled learning environment that supports each child's unique developmental needs while fostering a love of learning, confidence, independence, and Catholic values. Essential Responsibilities Instruction and Student Development Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with school curriculum and early childhood learning standards. Support growth in pre-reading, language, literacy, mathematics, fine motor, gross motor, and social-emotional skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse developmental needs of students. Foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and independence through hands-on learning experiences. Monitor and assess student progress and maintain accurate records of student achievement. Communicate student growth and developmental milestones with parents and school administration. Catholic Faith Formation Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily instruction and classroom activities. Model Christian behavior and promote respect, compassion, service, and responsibility. Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities. Support the school's mission and commitment to Catholic education. Classroom Environment Establish a warm, welcoming, and structured classroom environment. Promote positive behavior and age-appropriate social skills. Maintain a classroom that reflects student learning, faith development, and creativity. Ensure student safety and well-being at all times. Family and School Collaboration Build positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication. Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide timely updates regarding student progress. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to meet student needs. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain certification as required by state and diocesan guidelines. Experience working with preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or early elementary students. Strong understanding of child development and early learning practices. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Practicing Catholic who supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. Previous experience in a Catholic school setting. Training or experience in developmental kindergarten, transitional kindergarten, or early childhood intervention programs. Physical Requirements Ability to supervise active young children in classroom, playground, and school settings. Ability to lift, carry, and assist children and classroom materials as needed. Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the school day.
