About Hooked on Books Childcare Hooked on Books Childcare is a licensed childcare center in Detroit, Michigan, dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education to children and families in our community. We are committed to nurturing young learners and preparing them for kindergarten success. Position Overview Hooked on Books Childcare is seeking a qualified and passionate GSRP Lead Teacher to join our preschool team for the 2026-27 school year! In our five-day-a-week program, you will play a vital role in nurturing young minds and preparing Detroit's littlest learners for kindergarten success. If you are dedicated to high-quality early childhood education and building meaningful connections with children and families, we would love to hear from you! Education & Certification Requirements Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field with early childhood coursework Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood endorsement (preferred), or equivalent GSRP lead teacher qualifications Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Qualifications Experience working with preschool-aged children Strong classroom management and leadership skills Knowledge of early childhood development and assessment practices Familiarity with the HighScope curriculum (preferred) Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with families and staff Commitment to meeting Michigan GSRP and licensing requirements Organized, dependable, and deeply passionate about early childhood education and the families you serve Duties & Responsibilities Plan and implement engaging daily lessons aligned with the HighScope curriculum framework Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences twice per year Complete ASQ screenings and additional assessments to monitor children's developmental milestones Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings Collaborate with the Program Administrator, assistant teachers, and support staff to ensure quality instruction and program alignment Maintain accurate and confidential student records, progress notes, and assessment data Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, phone calls, in-person meetings, and the center's communication app to encourage active family engagement Follow all Michigan licensing rules and GSRP compliance guidelines Maintain thorough documentation for program monitoring and evaluation To Apply Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through Indeed or send their resume and cover letter to info@hookedonbookschildcare.com Hooked on Books Childcare is an equal opportunity employer.
